-Personal Qualities, Work Habits and Attitudes

The qualities that describes me are hard-working, God fearing, simple yet adventurous person. I love trying different kinds of things because I eventually learn and discover something new from them. And with that, I gain a new experiences. Coming to ACLC, I didn't know what to expect at first. I didn't know anyone yet and I felt like I was alone. But as my stay goes on I eventually had new friends and everyone in the community was very friendly. I realized that ACLC is one unique school and I did not regret coming here, I learned a lot of things not only with my facilitators, but with my fellow learners. One of those important things that I learned was to have confidence with myself. Confidence helped me come out of my shell, it taught me to be unafraid and always be optimistic. This confidence helped me in socializing with my fellow students and facilitators, also to build a good relationship with everyone.

-New Basics

When I came to ACLC, most things were unfamiliar to me, but I tried my best to learn each of them because I know those things will benefit me in the future. For example, in my English class we used to write homeworks, annotations, or essay that in the end our facilitator will not be checking. At first, I was saddened because I didn’t get a credit for something I knew I worked hard for. Later on, I realized that maybe this could be a practice for college because not everything you do will be graded in class; sometimes facilitators make this things in order for us to prepare us for any upcoming challenges in the future. Writing essays taught me to become a more creative thinker and writer. English class also helped me to become a good speaker and listener. As a graduating student, I can say that ACLC has helped me grow academically.

-Thinking and Reasoning Skills

Throughout the classes that I took in ACLC, I have learned different things like decision making and solving problems. For me Math is one of the hardest subject that I could have, but when I took Geometry and Algebra II, they taught me a lot of effective ways to problem solving. Our facilitators taught us the different strategies in ways of learning. We used to have an online textbook which is a learning tool for us to get a deeper understanding on what were studying in class. We also have classwork almost everyday so we can work with others as a group; in this type of way, I learned to improve the decision making not only for myself but for other people as well.

-Interpersonal and Collaborative Ability

I used to be a teacher assistant in an elementary school where I was assigned to help kindergartens. At first it sounds difficult because you have to deal with little kids and they might not listen to you because they are young and they only do what they want to do. But then the first time I came, I found it was actually really fun. I went there because I just wanted to earn some community service hours because it's needed for my grade, but now I’m currently doing it for my internship. I feel like I’m not only helping the community, but at the same time, interacting and having fun with little children.

-Technology

I believe that nowadays technology is one of the things that I use in my everyday life. One of the elective class that I took was DVS, it includes video editing and becoming better and having enough skills for beginners. I know how to take and edit videos with just using my phone and the app that I downloaded, although I only do it for fun and to play around. But with the class, I actually learned the proper or correct way on how to record videos, and also to understand the different techniques on editing a video. I also use google docs or google drive most of the time for my homework, especially when I have to write an essay. It’s just easier for me to work there because it’s very accessible.
